Flamenco guitarist, composer, musician, and vocalist, Miguel Mito de Soto hails from a long line of musicians of various musical genres. There are many talented musicians in Mito’s lineage; and out of respect for his heritage, Mito has continually made it his goal to pursue music professionally. Presently, based in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Mito has the great fortune of being surrounded by Flamenco guitarists, musicians, Flamenco artists, performers and Flamenco dancers. As well as a guitarist, Mito is a vocalist and percussionist. He utilizes various instruments on all three of his Flamenco CD’s. On his CD Flamenco III, Mito also plays transverse wooden flutes and a "Dobro” tuned to a harmonic minor scale, which alters and sets the emotion of this particular CD apart from standard Flamenco music.
Old World Classical Guitar is the only CD of Mito's that is solely classical guitar, i.e. no vocals. The first selection from Old World Classical Guitar "Rambla" is a composition by Mito. Mito's trademark as a trained classical composer is personified in his ability to mask complex chord structures under a searing melody line. That is to say that, many of his orchestral compositions contain this subtle element of complex chords while the melody/harmony instruments maintain a revisited minor third-major sixth in a memorable theme. Mito has never taken a lesson in classical guitar but performs difficult pieces, such as, Leyenda, Sevilla, Recuerdos de La Alhambra and many more with proficiency in compás (rhythmic grace). Although Mito has had, and continues to have many of his classical compositions performed publicly, he professes his enduring love and desire for FLAMENCO MUSIC.
